FLOWERS

Beauty from an old dirty bulb from Ozark Country Parson. Silas loves to plant things and watch them grow. We are anxiously waiting for the next blossum. Do different irises have names like roses do? If so, can anyone tell me the names of these two?
THIS ONE WAS GORGEOUS. SO FAR IT HAS HAD THREE BLOOMS. JUST WISH IT WOULD LAST LONGER.

I think iris varieties do have names... but I'm not closely acquainted enough with them to know the names. "Mrs. Ozark Country Parson" might!

I did notice the other day when we stopped at the tulip nursery that each variety had a little sign in the bed telling what it was. They were "foreign" names, though, so I wonder if they have American names, too.

Beautiful pictures. We still don't have much blooming, besides crocuses, in our neighborhood.

P.S. I haven't forgotten about the other songs you wanted from Dad's blog. Just haven't taken the time to add them yet.

Iris do have names, but I don't know the names of any. I have seen books with pictures of iris that have the names on them. If you could locate a book, maybe from a company that sells iris, you might find the names there. From what I have seen, some of the iris look so much alike, you have to really study them to tell the difference.

It is good to see yours blooming. Most of that one row went over the wall when the wall fell.

OH I LOVE irises. Mine will bloom in May, and I have one that looks like that. I love it. I just found out from Karla's blog that you are her oldest "aint" and I'm her oldest "ant". We're the two aunts with blogs. How cool. Your's is so pretty. Love,Rachel

Those irises are beautiful! Sorry I can't help with the names! Gardening is one area of which I have very little knowledge. It will probably improve once we start planting things around the house, which we plan to do soon!
