Those rocks that were in the way,
As I traveled life's highway,
Those things that gorged and bruised my soul,
When I wanted so bad to be made whole,
CAN I THANK THE lORD FOR THEM?
Those days when the children were small,
As I touched their fevered brow,
As I rocked and sang
Til the wee morn' hours,
Finally to tuck them in,
Only to have to do it over again,
CAN I THANK THE LORD FOR THEM?
That rock that said the bills are due,
Income did not meet the need,
We scimpt and saved and was appalled,
As we had to rob Peter to pay Paul.
CAN I THANK THE LORD FOR THIS?
That day when that child went astray,
The rock that said they had lost their way,
As I cried and pray with a broken heart
And wondered did I do my part,
To lead and guide them from the start,
Was my efforts all in vain?
CAN I THANK THE LORD FOR THIS?
That day when the doctor said
The very word we often dread,
Cancer and surgery the next day,
What was there that I could say?
CAN I THANK THE LORD FOR THIS?
At the time I could not see,
What those rocks would do for me,
Those rocks that bruised and gorged my soul,
That child that needed to be made whole,
The one that seem to lose his way .
When I knew all I could do was pray.
That day when I heard,
That dreaded word,
And listened to what the doctor said,
The cancer had not spread,
It will take a while to heal,
Many more rocks I've stumbled over,
Many mistakes I've made,
But the Lord reached down
Put me back on my feet,
All the rocks I've in this Christian life
Have been what strengthens me
for the days ahead.
AND, YES, OH YES, I CAN SAY
THANK YOU LORD FOR BEING WITH ME ALL THE WAY.
This is just a few blessings that have come. But I know that whatever He sends, He will lead the way.
